Foster Mother Physically Abuses Nine-Year Old Adopted Daughter

Battambang: The Battambang municipal police has arrested and interrogated a woman on 10 November, living in Wat Kor village, in connection with domestic violence against her adopted nine-year old daughter and threatening her not to tell others.

Authorities have responded after reports from residents living near the woman's home had claimed that they saw the foster mother beating the young girl almost daily, some days with more than 100 whips and sometimes more, there were also severe beatings as corporal punishments and shooting with slingshots,too.

One source says that the adoptive parents of the girl were married but had no children so they decided to adopt her when she was only three.

Wat Kor village chief Hor Phon has confirmed to EAC News that the physical and emotional abuse were true, so the Wat kor Sangkat Administrative Police Force have wasted no time and arrested the woman.The woman admitted instantly during the interrogation that she had indeed beaten her adopted daughter. The village chief has castigated the woman and her abusive behavior. Local authorities are presently working on the case.
